Spark is a new program of Children’s Home of York designed to provide accessible, compassionate, and person-centered mental health care for children, teens, and families in our community. Our team is here to help individuals build resilience, strengthen relationships, and find hope through every stage of their journey

Services

Spark offers a full range of outpatient behavioral health services, including:

  • Individual Therapy (30-minute, 45-minute, or 60-minute sessions)
  • Family Therapy (30-minute, 45-minute, or 60-minute sessions)
  • Biopsychosocial Assesments
  • Psychiatric Evaluations
  • Medication Management

Whether you’re seeking short-term support or ongoing care, our licensed clinicians provide personalized treatment to meet your needs.

Convenient Care Options

We know life can be busy, that’s why we make access to care flexible and convenient.

  • In-person and virtual appointments available
  • Evening and weekend sessions offered by request
  • Utalizes TransPerfect Translation Services

 

Admission Criteria

To qualify for services through Spark, individuals must:

  • Be at least 4 years of age
  • Have active Medicaid insurance (York/Adams CCBH)

Abigail Gittins, MS, MSW, LSW
Abby has a Master of Science in forensic psychology degree and a Master of Social Work degree. Abby has been with Children’s Home of York since 2021. In her time at Children’s Home of York she has experience as a mental health worker, therapist, and supervisor of the BRIDGES Partial Hospitalization Program. She is also a certified Safe Crisis Management Trainer. Abby looks forward to providing therapy to children and families in the Spark Center and helping them achieve the success they are looking for! She enjoys bringing positivity and a safe and welcoming space to those she works with.

Cecilia Keesey, MSW
Ceal received her Master of Social Work degree from Widener University. She has worked at Children’s Home of York for 30 years. She has extensive knowledge and experience working with youth and families. Ceal has experience serving individuals in mental health programs, prevention programs, and child welfare programs during her tenure with Children’s Home of York.

Devon Bortzfield, LCSW, CTF-CBT, C-DBT
Devon has a Master of Social Work degree from Millersville University. She has been with the Children’s Home of York since 2016. In her time at Children’s Home of York she has worked with children and families in the child welfare system, recruiting, training, and approving resource families, as a therapist, and as the Supervisor of the BRIDGES Partial Hospitalization Program. Devon currently oversees the Spark Center, the Permanency program (foster care and adoption), and the agency’s two Independent Living Group Homes, George Street and RISE. Devon enjoys working with children and families to help identify resources and interventions to help them overcome challenges and barriers.

Emily E. Jones, LCSW
Emily has her Master’s in Social Work; Leadership for Diverse Schools. Emily has worked for CHOY since 2017 in a variety of roles. In her roles, she has experience with providers in a collaborative process, experience with prevention groups with adolescents, experience as a direct support professional, experience as a mental health worker, and she is the Chair of the Cultural Competency and Diversity Committee. Since 2021, Emily has been employed with the BRIDGES Partial Hospitalization Program as a therapist. She has received training in CBT, DBT, TF-CBT, EFT, and IFS. Emily got into social work because advocacy is her passion, and she integrates that into her therapeutic work with children and families. Emily’s main goal is for everyone she works with to recognize their own potential and worth, and she tells every single one of them that if they show up to fight for themselves, then she will be right there with them. Emily says watching the children grow in confidence in themselves is one of the best things about her job.

Jessie Klein, MA, NCC
Jessie has a Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling and is a Nationally Certified Counselor. She started with CHOY in October 2024. She has experience with supporting youth on the autism spectrum, providing direct care to individuals primarily diagnosed with eating disorders, crisis response, and clinical work with adults. She is currently seeking supervision with the intent to obtain her LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor). She enjoys providing a warm, safe environment for children and families that allows the opportunity for healing and growth. 

Michael Gruettner, LCSW
Michael has been working with children, families, and adults for over 20 years. He earned his Master’s in social work from the University of Maryland School of Social Work in 2007. Michael began his career in children’s residential services. He has also worked in outpatient, and in school settings. Michael has focused his career on trauma and attachment. Michael holds a certification in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and is a Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) Practitioner. Michael enjoys seeing families and children thrive in their goals. In his free time Michael enjoys spending time with his family and being outdoors.
