Girls Center RTF

 Program Overview

The Girls’ Center is a licensed, trauma-focused, therapeutic Residential Treatment Facility (RTF) which specializes in the treatment of adolescent females aged 13 to 18. Our clients have serious emotional issues to the extent that medical services are deemed necessary.

Specialized, gender-specific principles are the foundation the Girls’ Center therapeutic environment. The program uses Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) – an approach that stresses the importance of respecting gender differences in the treatment environments. Victimization issues stemming from sexual, emotional and/or physical abuse are addressed as a priority. Staff uses affect therapy, meditation, expressive therapies, and other cognitive behavioral therapies to promote healthy adaptations and coping skills. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is treated in a model adapted from the National Trauma Center.

While in our care, young women receive intensive therapy including individual, family, group, and expressive therapy modalities conducted by licensed social workers, licensed professional counselors, and master’s-level clinicians. Educational services also are provided on site in cooperation with the Lincoln Intermediate Unit No. 12.
